In addition to the traditional civil engineering and highway maintenance works undertaken Murrill Construction Limited also has a wealth of experience over a number of years with the handling of major public emergencies particularly those affecting the highway.

Such emergencies handled or involved with have included:

  • Clearing the highway of fallen trees following the hurricane that hit southern England on 16 October 1987
  • Involved with the aftermath of the Southall train crash on 18 September 1997
  • In liaison with the Emergency Services and Local Authority Emergency Liaison Officer dealing with the aftermath of of a devastating bomb that exploded in west London on 3 August 2001
  • Dealing with ice and snow each winter, but with particular significance during the winters of early 2009 and 2010.

In the event of such major emergencies Murrill Construction Ltd can call upon an extensive and large range of resources (plant, labour and materials) through those both directly employed and through its range of partners and suppliers.  

To ensure these emergencies are effectively dealt with a review of the Company’s Business Impact Analysis and Business Continuity Plan is carried out on an annual basis or following a major emergency.  Furthermore, the plan is updated to take into account any major regional, country or worldwide event which could cause an impact upon how the Company could or would perform its normal or emergency operations.
